Young Falcon, the first of a multi-book series Sons and Daughters, chronicles the perilous journey of seventeen year old Elysia into a world far bigger and more dangerous than she ever imagined. When asked by her father to travel to the capital on a routine mission, Elysia is eager to experience life beyond her safe borders, but soon encounters a sinister threat to her once peaceful elven country of Yaracina and risks her life to save her beleaguered country and those she loves.

Elysia's comfortable and uneventful life abruptly ends when her father asks her to journey to the capital on a mission for him. Having only dreamt of seeing other cities in her elven country of Yaracina, seventeen-year old Elysia jumps at the chance but soon encounters the downside of the world beyond her safe borders. Captured by soldiers, thrown in a dungeon, and soon to be sold to humans--a race thought long since extinct--Elysia refuses to face defeat. During her long hours of isolation while held prisoner, she develops a mental bond with a man she's never met that becomes so strong that the two cannot even tell their own thoughts, dreams, or emotions apart Elysia escapes her captors, only to have others pursue her. A secret mission, a plunge into the land of the dead, ruthless killing about her--she finds danger lurking at every turn. Secrets abound. Friends fade into foes. Elizabeth Anne McKinney began writing short stories when she was a child and continued to develop her interest during the elementary years by excelling in her school's Young Author contests. After birthing the idea for her Sons and Daughters series, her dream became to have the book published by her sixteenth birthday which she was able to accomplish. Her editor described her book as a "masterful work" and said many adult authors are not as adept at writing as Elizabeth. Following her passion, Elizabeth intends to write for the rest of her life.
