Overview
Wounds into Blessings is that journey into the mysterious world of the healing work of Fred Mitouer and his sacred gift. It is a hands-on story of rare human intimacy at the edge of body and soul by a forty-year veteran bodyworker who takes the reader through a narrative arc of many client stories and his personal reflections about them. Implicit throughout is the dynamic tension between the unhealed wound and healing energy. We see how wound management–(and the accompanying pain and sense of limitation, victimization and despair)–results when healing energy cannot make contact with the wounded place. And we witness, when contact is made, how healing energy organizes a cleansing and rebuilding experience and re-establishes harmony and vitality on bodily, emotional and spiritual levels. Ultimately, Wounds into Blessings is a book about compassion and courage and light that can help us enlighten the darkness in our lives with greater dignity as we wrestle with, and embrace, our humanity and our ordinary life, our mortality and the ineffable forces of Grace.

Fred Mitouer is a body-mind healer with great intuition and insight as well as tremendous courage. Wounds into Blessings captures both his vision of the healing vortex and offers valuable knowledge and perspective on the specifics of how he works with clients. This is a must read for healers of all persuasions who want to include the body in the healing process. ~ PHILLIP MOFFITT, Author of Emotional Chaos to Clarity and Dancing with Life "Healing is the death of our wounded identity," says Fred Mitouer, master teacher and somatic practitioner. His work, Wounds Into Blessings chronicles his experience of more than twenty-five years playing and working in the interconnected labyrinth of mind, body and spirit. The wisdom springs off the pages with every story, especially his own. If you are intrigued with the idea that everything is relatedness….you will love this work." ~TERRY PEARCE, Founder/President, Leadership Communication This is a rare book, and precious for the wisdom it opens to us. I am grateful to Fred Mitouer for opening truths that almost always are kept secret. To be able to enter the mind and heart of a true healer and accompany him in his work is a great gift. And to be touched by the intimate, vulnerable truths of those with the courage to persevere in their healing journey is a privilege and inspiration. In short, reading Wounds Into Blessings is a profound, deeply humanizing experience. ~SHERRY RUTH ANDERSON, Author The Feminine Face of God and Ripening Time: Inside Stories for Aging Gracefully Original and authentic. A wise, richly metaphorical and beautifully evoked twenty five-year journey by a master healer and somatic therapist, revealing how his "disarmament" of "fertile wounds" knotted in the flesh can renew souls and revivify lives. ~MARTY KRASNEY, Executive Director, Dalai Lama Fellows A game changer! Top down psychosomatic perception is turned on its head in Fred Mitouer's Wounds into Blessings; finally, the body gets to speak its mind. In eloquent philosophical reflections about his somatic practice, Dr. Mitouer gives us a gritty and graceful inside view of the humanity and rigor that real healing demands. From falling down and getting up, through disillusionment and redemption, to remembering the unity we forgot because of all the struggle -- there's something here for everyone. ~ THE HONORABLE RUSSELL REDENBAUGH, Former Commissioner, United States Commission on Civil Rights When someone who has achieved Mastership in an area and then writes a book about it, that book is always a must read. When Fred Mitouer presents us with this remarkable book that summarizes the past 25 years of his professional practice, then it needs to be a required reading. Wounds Into Blessings will deeply appeal to anyone who is even remotely interested in consciousness in general and the consciousness of the body more specifically. This book will be of assistance in yo
