Overview

"Being a gentle dreamer in a harsh world, you could see more than a fragile girl."

A wonder woman in disguise, gifted with a super power to fulfil her own life wishes. Yet she did not know how to use this kind of power. Not recognising her strength, it was fear of being knocked down again that kept her in hiding. It also made her wear heavy armour full of cracks, those sustained from many battles and defeats. Leaving her merely dreaming elusive dreams of there being more to life than loneliness and hardship. When her mother died she couldn't hide from the pain inside any longer. Her armour shattered, her health deteriorated and she was broken. It was her mother who had been the poet. When she began hearing whispered words that woke her up in the middle of the night to put down on paper, she felt like she was receiving mysterious messages of hope. It was her heart's reminder to seek her treasure, that she was born worthy. The journey to accomplish this was not an easy one. The enemy she faced was powerful. Yet she prevailed.

A unique tale of transformation from despair to hope, suffering to strength and, loneliness to love, this story is a gift from the heart.

About the author

Melanie Lambert received the inspiration for her first book, Wonder Woman in Disguise whilst sailing around the Maltese Islands. Upon realising they were where the movie, Count of Monte Cristo, was filmed, she was suddenly captivated by the idea that she was living in this story herself. Like Dantes, she felt she could break out of her metaphoric prison to find her treasure. The book was the result, because she realised the poetry she had been writing over the years told a story of transformation just as magical. It describes a defeated heroine on her journey of discovering a rich inner treasure and self-worth, from despair to hope, suffering to strength, and loneliness to love.

It was Melanie's Mother who had been the poet. Yet after her death in 2012, Melanie started weaving words into poems that initially spoke deeply of her trauma, pain and grief. It was unexpected talent that emerged out of nowhere yet it had the power to move and inspire. Dealing with complex post-traumatic stress disorder and major depression, Melanie eventually found the poetry was not just an avenue of self-expression but one of wise guidance that set her on the path to healing and love. The pinnacle reached was meeting her wonderful man as well as finding an inner peace after the turmoil of fighting chronic ill health, suicidal thoughts and hopelessness. She wanted to share her victory with others in a very brave and vulnerable telling of her trials, in the hope it would inspire others to not give up.
