Overview
Charlotte Boggs has power. So does her mother and grandmother. They can talk telepathically. They can enter the minds of others and sometimes influence them. Charlotte wishes she were normal, but she isn't. Now that she's in college, she's writing the story of her experiences so far, hoping to understand herself and her abilities. Perhaps if she can understand her power better, she can learn to control it.

I'm Charlotte Boggs and this is my story. It's also Gran's story and Mom's--and Nancy's too. Now that I'm in college, I want to write down what's happened and try to make sense of it. The thing is, Gran, Mom, Nancy, and me--we've all got power. We can talk telepathically, and we can enter the minds of some people and make them do things. But what good is that? I'd rather be normal because having power is not much fun. But I have used it to help people. I helped Mom escape a drug dealer. So I'm guess I'm glad I have power.
Power is nothing to play around with. It can be dangerous. It can terrify, even kill. But it can also heal and soothe--if it's controlled. That's the problem, control. It's easy to lose and not easy to get. Gran and Nancy tried to suppress their power. Mom uses hers to steal. I tell her she should try to do good, but she never listens.
Me--I want to do good. I want to be heroic. But I'm not sure how. I have done some good and made some mistakes. Now I'm writing about my adventures with power, hoping that I can better understand it. But, if nothing else, I think other people might find my story interesting. I hope so.
