About the author

Alden Studebaker is a Unity minister, ordained in 1984. He has served Unity churches in Vacaville, California; El Paso, Texas; La Crescenta, California; Bellevue, Washington; and Cincinnati, Ohio.

The Reverend Alden Henry Studebaker, Jr., is the senior minister at Garden Park Unity Church in Cincinnati, Ohio. He conducts seminars and workshops on Bible usage and interpretation throughout the country.

Alden was born on February 19, 1957, in East Chicago, Indiana, and lived in the small town of Dune Acres on the shore of Lake Michigan. At the age of ten, his family moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. In 1971 Alden’s family began attending a Unity church, and he soon became involved with the Youth of Unity (Y.O.U.), serving as its president and attending the Y.O.U. international conferences at Unity Village, Missouri, in 1973 and 1975.

Alden enrolled as a chemistry major at the University of Hawaii. While attending college, he began to question his career track. One Sunday, while listening to a minister’s message, he received his call to the ministry. He returned to the continental United States and entered Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, Michigan. It was there that he began to study the Bible extensively, including courses in Greek, Latin and Hebrew. Alden received a Bachelor of Arts degree, magna cum laude, in 1980, graduating with a major in religion and a minor in history.

Studebaker was ordained in 1984 after graduating from the Unity Ministerial School at Unity Village. He has served Unity churches in Vacaville, California; El Paso, Texas; La Crescenta, California; and Bellevue, Washington, before moving to Cincinnati.

Alden Studebaker lives on five acres in Bright, Indiana, with his wife Donna, a licensed Unity teacher, and their three children, Jennifer, Nathan, and Danny
