Overview
For years Jake Brogan has succeeded in a world where survival no longer depends on the unique instincts and skills needed to hunt people as a sniper. When asked for help by a man who saved his life during that earlier time, Brogan’s refusal to his estranged friend is immediate. Following the execution style killing of the man, Brogan questions his decision. Does he ignore the intrusion into his life or reenter a world requiring the lethal skills previously abandoned?
Description
Jake Brogan is a man who ignores his age as he does his past. Instead of hunting and killing the enemy in the jungles as he once did many years ago, Brogan now pursues couples vulnerable to his seduction. Extremely successful in his current lifestyle, he moves from one encounter to the next while avoiding commitment. His existence is interrupted with a call prompted by Allen Sharpe, the man who saved his life many years ago. When Sharpe’s family requests Brogan’s assistance, his refusal is immediate. The friendship between the two had ended when Brogan last helped Sharpe. However, when Sharpe is killed execution style, Brogan questions his decision. Does he ignore Sharpe’s intrusion into his life or revisit a connection long suppressed? Unable to face personal weaknesses leading to his initial refusal to help, Brogan encounters more problems, which pull him further into the dead man’s legacy. Not only is he challenged by Sharpe’s daughter, but also saving a business destined for destruction. As the issues leading to Sharpe’s death are uncovered, Brogan realizes he is dealing with an enemy more evil than any previously confronted. Brogan’s survival depends on reentering a world where lethal skills are essential. Once again he must hunt and kill.
About the author
Clint Browning was born in Austin, Texas. Studying initially in medical technology and then engineering, his career might best be described as eclectic. In the medical world, Clint specialized in clinical laboratory management and business consulting for forensic labs. Following that episode in life, he headed in a different direction working for the Department of Defense where he performed specialized research projects, executed feasibility studies, and created white papers. With previous writing primarily focused on career endeavors, Clint’s encounters afforded some remarkable opportunities to dwell on the ‘what-ifs’ in the world. With the move into fiction (although some of the previous real work seemed fictional), his hope is to provide the reader with an escape. Clint holds degrees from the University of Texas at Austin and Texas A&M University. His last foray into the educational arena was completion of a Masters degree from the Eisenhower College (formerly ICAF) in Washington D.C, one of the Senior Service Colleges of the National Defense University.
