Overview
Unintentional stowaway, young Alexandria fell into the heart of Prohibition's underworld--and Jake McKenzie. Alex, the flaming redhead, thrilled to the risks of run running, speeding over the waters and evading the law between Canada and Washington State. But when she caught the eye of Antonio, the head of the Italian Mafia intent on taking over the Northwest Territory, excitement turned perilous. Decades later, details of Antonio's murder still haunt her. And Jean, the college student Alex hires to tame her garden, soon wonders whether this older feisty, in-command woman has more sinister plans than simple yard work. Set in the 1970s, stepped with research of the bootlegging era, Whiskey Cove portrays the tumultuous times of changing society ruled by the unquenched demand for booze and the law that worked both sides.

About the author
Denise Frisino spent her summers playing and working in the numerous islands that define the Pacific Northwest, where her family spans four generations. At age five, she took to the stage and has been involved in theatre and the film industry in Seattle and Los Angeles as an actress, writer, playwright, and producer, winning awards for her writing and acting. She was involved with the local chapters of Women in Film, International Television Association (ITVA) and Screen Actors Guild, and served on the board of American Federation of TV and Radio. Denise has published several articles and a short story. In the public school system she taught English, drama, writing, and video, receiving the A+ Award for Excellence in Education. Her mother wrote for and edited the Garfield H.S. Magazine before marrying her ‘man in uniform,’ Joseph Charles Frisino. Joe was a journalist and editor for the Seattle Post-Intelligencer. When he retired after thirty-five years he continued to write his column The Senior Side. Denise enjoys being on the water, lived aboard one of the old Mosquito Fleet boat on Lake Union, and loves her row boat. She and her husband spend time at Hood Canal and reside in Seattle.
