If you had the chance to sit down face-to-face with O.J. Simpson, what would you have asked him? When Simpson was acquitted of murder in the fall of 1995, Ross Becker got that chance. He told him that he did not kill his wife, Nicole, or her friend Ron Roldman—but do you believe him? Well, unfortunately, that is not what this book is about. Description

"What You Saw and What You Didn't" is about innovative journalism and tough decisions. It's about jealousy and misunderstandings. It's about Becker's opportunity to interview one of the biggest newsmakers of the century. It might give you a chance to rethink your opinions. Just after the jury acquitted Simpson of murder, Becker was unexpectedly hired to conduct a 90-minute interview with him. The story of what happened next is filled with drama and confusion. Some people, including some of Becker's colleagues, described it as taking "blood money," but those same journalists would have jumped at the chance to ask Simpson the same questions he did and have his answers saved for history. The interview also disrupted life in the small Kentucky town where Becker lived at the time. People there were shocked, and the rumors were rampant. Some of the stories are funny, but others are not so much. "What You Saw and What You Didn't: The Unexpected Exclusive" is a story about journalism and change. A story about the justice system and how it is perceived. A story about human nature, both good and bad.

About The Author

Ross Becker began his professional journalism career at a radio station in Wisconsin, where he grew up, and ended up reporting on some of the biggest stories from the 1970s to the early 2000's. Each story is part history, and each one taught Becker a lesson about people, life, and politics. Throughout his career, Becker worked for CBS, NBC, and anchored the news for an independent station in Los Angeles. He was there when the O.J. Simpson murder trial began. Becker is a multi-Emmy award winner and has been honored by the L.A. Press Club, The Associated Press, and The Radio TV News Association of Southern California. His first book exposed the inside stories of many events he covered during his career. This book focuses on what was coined the "Trial of the Century" and the controversial interview afterwards.
