About the author
Born in 1915, Worth was the first son of hard working parents in a small South Carolina town. He had three brothers that were his best friends as they grow up. Two sisters died as babies. Worth was always a leader and had a desire to do his best in whatever he tried to do. His faith in God carried him through life and made him the person he was. He was always looking ahead to the future.
When he met Virginia Lee Majeski, he knew he was in love and he always thought she taught him how to be a better person. They had three children together and raised them in the Flat Rock community of Anderson, SC. In 1952 he went to work for Owens-Corning Fiberglass and when he retired, he and Virginia traveled in a Motorhome, gardened, and learned to square dance!
In the 1980's he was ask to be on the committee to help identify the World War II POW's in South Carolina. This got him thinking about his own experiences and in May 1986, he began hand writing his memoirs on a note pad. He finished this part in Jan. 1987 and began to record the memoirs on cassette tape. He did not finish recording because he died March 1987. He was active and fairly healthy and lived a good life and enjoyed his children and grandchildren until meningitis took his life at 72.
