About the author
Patti Christopher graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans with a BM in Vocal Performance in 1976, and immediately took a teaching job at Pensacola Jr. College in Florida. Beginning in 1978, she taught for 30 years in her home and with the Loyola Preparatory Program as the Vocal Instructor and Vocal Music Co-ordinator. She conducted choral music on a part-time basis. She taught private voice, music theory, sight-singing, and ear training. She developed Vocal Ease as well as various teaching materials for her students. In 1988, she published her first edition of Vocal Ease. She then amplified and improved the textbook over the years until the final 4th edition. To keep up with the times, she has added the ebook edition as her latest edition.
Beginning in 1968, Ms. Christopher began as professional soloist in various churches in the New Orleans area. Prior to teaching, she was the female lead in several community musical theatre productions. Later, she joined the N.O. Opera Chorus, also singing comprimario roles: Peasant Girl in Marriage of Figaro, Matron Lady in Turandot, Eunuch in Salome, Priestess in Aida. Ms. Christopher was guest artist for the Lafayette Opera Guild performance of Marriage of Figaro, singing the Countess. While a member of the N.O. MetroPelican Opera, she sang Lauretta in Young Audience performances of Gianni Schicchi, the Mother and Grandmother in Little Red Ridinghood, and Queen of Hearts in Alice.
On January 6, 2006, Ms. Christopher retired from teaching, following hurricane Katrina.
