Vincent never spoke of the fact that he took part in the war, or that he spent the duration on the Western Front, hence the subtitle, The Long Silence.

The author, Derek McCann lives in Southern California with his wife Terry and their grandson Dillon. He retired from the merchant marine after a fifty-two-year career as ship's officer and later captain. He holds a batchelor's degree in Nautical Science and a master's degree in business studies. When not writing, he enjoys his hobby as a licensed ham radio operator.
