Overview
This book won the 2011Global eBook Award in the Mystery Category. Attorney Peter Sharp has a new client… a boat-owning dock neighbor, is charged with murder. Unfortunately, he is a suspended police officer with a known dislike for people who are the color of his alleged victim. He’s also the subject of many citizen complaints for using excessive force in the minority community. Making a defense almost impossible, the client was arrested standing over the victim’s body, with his own gun - the murder weapon - in his hand… and on top of that, Peter’s bitter ex-wife who is now a top prosecutor, has been assigned this case. She not only wants to win a conviction for her own political reasons: she wants to humiliate her ex-husband in court. This case has many twists and turns, but all comes together in an exciting final courtroom scene when little Suzi tries to solve the case and become the smallest legal expert in the country.
Description
This book won the 2011Global eBook Award in the Mystery Category. Tony Edwards, A dock neighbor of Peter’s is a suspended police officer with a known dislike for people who are the color of his alleged victim. He’s also the subject of many citizen complaints for using excessive force in the minority community At Suzi’s request, Tony taught her how to help him re-load his target practice ammunition, also giving the little girl a basic course in ballistics. When a local black movie producer who Tony was working for gets killed, Suzi and talks Peter into handling Tony’s defense… which doesn’t look too good because he was arrested at the scene of the murder with his gun still smoking. Along the way, Peter once again gets involved with who he thinks might be ‘Miss Right,’ represents a 500-pound woman who is being discriminated against, uncovers a white supremist militant organization, and also stumbles onto a group of people who are pirating DVD copies of recently released major motion pictures. Peter’s ex-wife, District Attorney Myra Scot, makes a mistake when she subpoenas little Suzi to come and testify as a prosecution witness against the defendant, Suzi’s friend Tony. The final courtroom drama when Tony’s case comes to a head shows Suzi’s ingenuity in trying to get both herself and Bernie, her huge canine companion, into the courtroom. What transpires in the courtroom that day amazed the judge, the reporters, and both parties to the criminal case, and was an event that you could never have imagined would have happened. You will enjoy matching wits with Suzi, racing to solve the case before she does, and you will always know everything that she does: she will have no edge over you other than her unique ability to reason.
