In Two Spies Too Many by Sandra Kostere, as psychologist Dr. Jeff
Dylan takes an early morning run, he is looking forward to
celebrating his fifth wedding anniversary to wife Rebecca.
Unfortunately, Jeff never makes it home and his death, caused by a
hit and run accident, goes unsolved. Two years later, his widow and
fellow psychologist Dr. Rebecca Dylan struggles to pick up the
pieces of her life. She takes solace in her work and conversations
with her late husband. Then Rebecca receives a disturbing email
and a confession from her director, Dr. White, that her husband's
death could have been an assassination. He offers her the chance
to find out the truth behind her husband's death. She agrees to the
undercover assignment, not knowing the danger she is facing.
When her friend goes missing and those close to her are murdered,
Rebecca suspects everyone around her. During her investigations,
she encounters many people who seem to want to help, but do they
have a secret agenda to stop her uncovering the truth? As Rebecca
begins to unravel the mystery, the true colors of those she thought
were friends are revealed.
I absolutely loved Two Spies Too Many by Sandra Kostere but I
would recommend you do not read it before you go to sleep as this
is such a fast-paced story filled with intrigue and plot twists. The
characters are believable and so realistic; even the minor
characters have so much detail to their personalities. I loved how
the characters' backstories were included in the dialogue and
descriptive narrative too as this gave a greater insight into their
behavior. As the characters were introduced, I was wondering
where they fitted into the story. However, as the plot unfolded layer
by layer, I realized each was vital to the story. The twists and turns
throughout were continuous and just when I thought I had solved
the mystery, another plot twist would occur. The tension was
increased further by allowing the reader an insight into one
character's agenda which the other character was unaware of. I
loved the strong subplots, especially the relationship between
Michael and Monica. The conversations Rebecca had with her late
husband were heartbreaking and so well-written. I really didn't want
this story to end and I hope there is a sequel as I would love to
know what happened to Rebecca and the other characters. If you
enjoy a story that is full of tension, intrigue, and conflict, then you
would thoroughly enjoy this amazing book.
