Description

From glittering ballrooms in London to the high seas life lived by Henry Morgan and other pirate greats, Maureen Mckee, with her aunt, faces lavish lifestyles and unbelievable danger. Maureen must look beneath the façade her fiancé Thomas exudes to the man beneath. Is he what he seems, or is there a darker side? And what of Lt. Chance? Why does he bring out the shrew in her even as he rescues her and shows only bravery in the face of unspeakable odds? Fiery haired Maureen must seek the answers while fighting for her life. Is Lt. Chance the evil man Thomas says he is, or is Thomas a man of unfathomable darkness? Will she learn to see clearly what her heart actually desires, or will she be as blinded to her heart as the island is by the dangerous storm…a storm that turns high noon as dark as twilight. Will her heart make a safe twilight landing?

About the author

Kristen J. Schmidt has been telling tales since before she could write. In fact, her first detention was for writing too long of a short story. She has a BA in Creative Writing with an emphasis in fiction and secondary emphasis in playwrighting and screenwriting. Though she lives in California, her heart has always been in places like Montana and Wyoming. When not writing, she likes to camp with her family and German Shepherds, travel to archaeological digs or mission trips to Mazatlan Mexico, or go places with her closest friends who are also in her acting troupe. While staying healthy, she has learned to love martial arts and has found that this training doubles as research for her writing. Kristen has been writing, acting, and directing in theatre pieces at her church Flipside or her college since she was eighteen. She often says the times she feels most alive are when she’s writing or part of a theatre production; the times when the creative gives life to something new, exciting, and altogether real.
