About The Author

Noam Shalev is an award-winning documentary filmmaker and producer with over two decades of telling stories from the world's most contested and complex places. As the founder and managing director of Highlight Films in Israel, he has produced and directed films for National Geographic, BBC, Netflix, Amazon, Channel 4, Discovery, and Arte, among others. His work has taken him deep into conflict zones, sacred sites, and hidden histories—from the streets of Gaza to the ruins of Jerusalem. Over his career, he has served as line producer for major international productions—working alongside Morgan Freeman, Oliver Stone, Frank Grillo, Chelsea Handler, and Ai Weiwei—while also appearing on camera as a presenter and reporter for outlets including National Geographic and RTL Germany. In 2022, Noam published his first book, "Land Looking Down," marking his entry into literary fiction. His novel draws on a lifetime of bearing witness to war, faith, sacrifice, and the quiet endurance of the human spirit. Currently, Noam lives and works in Israel.
