Duane Boyer graduated with a Music Education degree, and started teaching fretted instrument classes at Eastern Oregon College, now known as Eastern Oregon University, where he remains today. He also is the director of the EOU Fiddle Ensemble, a performance group specializing in all kinds of fiddle styles. He regularly teaches at numerous camps and workshops throughout the Northwest. Over the years, he has added a number of instruments to his repertoire, as he has continued to play in a number of groups of different styles. Those instruments include tenor guitar and banjo, plectrum and 5-string banjo, mandolin and mandola, fiddle, bass, resophonic guitar, and pedal steel guitar. At present, he performs with the EOCenes, an old-time string band with several former students, and a family Bluegrass band with his son, Jason, and daughter, Holly, and two other members.
