An unsuccessful attempt to find and purchase a bedtime story about car seats for her unborn grandchild prompted Joanne to write her first children's book. The result was Good Night Car Seat, which eventually became a big hit with her granddaughter. One book then led to another and another and another. With each new story, she strives to reinforce child passenger safety while weaving in a lesson or two along the way. As a mom of four, she accumulated miles and miles of first-hand experience using car seats and boosters while they were growing up. Unexpectedly, when her youngest child was 5 years old and her need for car seats and boosters was winding down, Joanne's journey as a child passenger safety advocate in the community was just getting started. She co-founded Car Seats for Christy in memory of a friend and fellow mom whose child passenger safety habits truly proved to be lifesaving. Joanne is a graduate of Loyola Marymount University's School of Film and Television, is an award-winning scriptwriter and seasoned communications professional. After years of crafting non-fiction for the corporate world, she retired in the summer of 2023. She now focuses on writing children's books and leading charitable efforts in the community.
