Pendant la pandémie, Joan a rejoint un groupe d’étude sur l’antiracisme, qui incitait à réfléchir à comment rendre le monde plus bienveillant et inclusif. Son parcours professionnel combine les domaines corporatif et communautaire, avec des années de leadership dans la Silicon Valley et un engagement constant dans des programmes éducatifs pour les enfants. Surnommée « Joan of Art » dans une classe de troisième année où elle a enseigné l’art et l’alphabétisation, Joan insuffle à chaque projet son esprit créatif.
Elle est également l’auteure de deux livres pour adultes, Building Blocks for the New Retirement et Great in 8: Job Seeking Skills. Joan est titulaire d’une maîtrise en technologie de l’éducation de l’Université de l’Oregon et d’un baccalauréat en psychologie de l’Université de Pennsylvanie. Originaire de New York, elle vit désormais avec sa famille à Santa Rosa, en Californie, au nord de San Francisco.

She has been Joan of Art in a 3rd grade class, teaching art and literacy, for the past number of years.
