To Fly by the Sun

To Fly by the Sun is written for emerging or beginning readers (ages 3-8 years). The book includes frequently used "sight words", as well as instructional guidance. With provided vocabulary, suggested activities, and guiding questions, this book can be used at home, within the classroom, or in nature, supporting flexible learning experiences for children and caregivers. 

This two-part story tells of how creative children can be on their way home. The book includes frequently used word for early readers, "sight words". Once a little girl shows the power of new ideas, she inspires others to do the same. The fun begins when the rain comes, and everyone finds themselves flying closer to the sun.

Briana Bostic is the author of this book and founder of The Black Heron Company. This creative work is inspired by her preschool experience at Wallace Elementary School, time in the classroom with "The Innovators", as well as years of research and community organizing in Chicago, St. Louis, Prince George's County (MD), and Baltimore.
