About the author
JIMMY D ROBINSON Poet, lyricist, recording artist, musician, producer, art dealer and entrepreneur. Jimmy D Robinson, a native of West Palm Beach, FL, is a self-proclaimed “perpetual club kid.” With a current label roster that includes iconic singers like Melba Moore, Carol Jiani and CEEVOX, Robinson is holding the reigns as an underground club music impresario. With six U.S. Billboard and U.K. club hits already under his belt, Robinson’s venture into the dance music world has been a stroke of genius and luck. Publishing over sixteen self-penned books of modern poetry to draw inspiration from for music of all genres, Jimmy D Robinson’s star power is illuminating brightly. The son of a single mom who waited tables to support the family, Robinson felt the unfortunate tribulations of poverty, but escaped his reality through all things artistic. Robinson’s creative background began as a small child when his grandmother began teaching him to write poetry. His penchant for all things artistic led him to a fascination with modern art, local music and dance. During his early teen years, Jimmy D Robinson’s escape became Disco. Donna Summer and Michael Jackson were the most influential and exciting acts in his world of music. Obsessed with clubland, Robinson loved to visit New York City and hit up all the huge dance clubs. He would get his fill of the hottest tracks from the biggest DJs. After Robinson attended Palm Beach Junior College for a few semesters, he decided formal education was not for him. In 1990, Robinson found himself in Paris, France, studying at the Ritz Escoffier Culinary School. Even though Robinson loved expressing himself through cooking, he soon grew weary of the culinary world. With an uncertain fate, a special creative talent inside his soul begged to be unleashed. However, unable to find himself artistically, Robinson, struggled to identify his path in life. Ultimately, Robinson found himself back in West Palm Beach, Florida, experiencing a period of homelessness, drug abuse, jail and hopelessness throughout the ‘90s. Full of despair, destitute and homeless, Jimmy D Robinson began creating descriptive sentences in his mind and then penning them on scraps of paper or anything he could find. Much of the poetry in his early books was written during these times. He would gaze at the moon, the stars, the clouds, the sun, searching for anything that would give him hope—hope to live, to overcome, and to triumph. It can be said that poetry saved Mr. Robinson's life. When he began writing, he was overwhelmed with feelings that he hadn't experienced in a long time. Poetry made him reflect and look inward. Gradually, he found the more he wrote, the better he felt. It was never his intention to be a poet; he just did what came naturally. Upon recovery, Robinson was introduced to the rare art collection world through a friend and with hard work and dedication, eventually became a very successful art broker. He established Jimmy D Robinson, Inc.[Rare art Collections] and specializes in brokering large collections of art as well as multi-million dollar paintings to elite and private clientele, luxury hotels and corporations worldwide. His art dealing includes Contemporary, Hudson River School, American Impressionism, Old Masters, American & European Paintings as well as the large rare art collections. With the means to publish his own works, Robinson experienced a new lease on life. Through his example, he wants his readers to know that no matter what depths one can sink to, there is always room for hope and opportunity for change. His came in the form of the written word, for others it may be another creative force. Robinson’s published works have earned him a sterling reputation in the world of publishing and music. Widely recognized as one of today’s most prolific writers, Robinson’s poems, musical stories, and lyrics reflect the hardships he has endured and the joys of overcoming them. Penning his words with stark reality—writing of the human condition—loneliness, love, desperation, and hope, Robinson uses his craft to convey his celebration of life. For several years, Robinson’s highly praised poetry books have been gifted to presenters and nominees at the Grammy® Awards, the Radio Music Awards, the American Music Awards and the Latin Grammy® Awards. Jimmy D Robinson ventured into the studio in 2007 and began setting his poetry to music. His debut full-length spoken-word CD was titled MIND JUICE. MIND JUICE, also the first book in Robinson’s sixteen-book anthology, is a timeless collection of Robinson’s poems set to beautiful music. The inspirational and uplifting MIND JUICE CD was composed by Bruno Linares and narrated by James Randolph. From the MIND JUICE CD sprang Robinson’s first international chart hit titled, “A Tiny Shoe.” The remix project pushed “A Tiny Shoe” to #6 on the Billboard Club Play chart and #7 on the UK Music Week chart. Establishing his record label, J Music Group, became the next rung on Robinson’s artistic ladder. He entered the studio with CEEVOX and produced several international hit dance club records with his poems “In The Night”( #4 on Billboard Club), “At Midnight” (#24 on Billboard Club) and “Lost in You” (#34 on Billboard Club). Soon, Robinson began working with international dance music diva Carol Jiani. Together they recorded the #2 UK Music Week Chart hit “Broken.” On his next single, Jimmy D Robinson stepped up to the microphone himself and recorded the single “One More Chance,” which features stunning vocals of music legend Melba Moore. Working with exceptional producing talent and stellar remixers has become Robinson’s new creative passion. He works with some of the biggest names in dance culture including: FC Nond, Zur-Face, Edie Baez, Hoop , Jose Velez, Timothy Allan, The Perry Twins, Twisted Dee, Tracy Young, Rafael M, Josh Harris, Klubjumpers, Mark Loverush, Kinky Roland, Loverush Uk, Arenna and Edson Pride. With a progressive and futuristic sound, Robinson has written and produced 37 albums tallying 240 selections in his arsenal of music, which is available on itunes, Amazon, MP3, Napster, Masterbeat and many other online stores. Today, Jimmy D Robinson is grateful for his life and is thankful he weathered the many storms of his past to arrive at where he is today. With over twenty books written, Mr. Robinson has finally found himself with the marriage of his poetry and music. Robinson’s book and music collection is often distributed to children in U.S. school systems as well as those in high crime areas, prisons and shelters.
