When I graduated from high school, I knew little about life outside of my parents' home. I sometimes think about some of the senseless mistakes I made and wonder, "Why didn't anybody tell me?" I made a point to teach life lessons to my sons as they grew up, but I was not sure if they were passed down to my granddaughter. Her village has done exceptionally well. She is just nice enough to be kind and pleasant, yet fiery enough to keep life interesting. But is she grounded? Will she overcome the stumbling blocks that life lays out for the vulnerable? Those were the things that concerned me. I kept thinking of all kinds of situations and the warnings I wanted to give her. Thus, the book! It became a quick way to open her eyes and cast a little light on the path that lay before her.

About The Author


Pamela Mason was born and raised in Washington, DC, and relocated to Baltimore, Maryland, many years ago to rejoin the federal workforce after spending several years as a military wife homeschooling her sons. She lived and worked in Baltimore for over 30 years and has since moved to Newburg, Maryland, to enjoy a rewarding retirement. She also authored her autobiography, The Diary of a SAVED Black Woman.
