Overview

The epic tale of Milo Ives - a 17 year old boy. Marred by a grave accident at a young age, Milo learns he has obtained supernatural powers over the elements of Fire and Ice; he also learns his fate is to act as a mediating force between the Gods who gave him his powers and the mortals of Earth, or face the unspeakable wrath of the Gods' purge. Set in modern day, "The Energy" takes place all around popular locations in the United States, such as San Diego, Las Vegas, and Miami; But no matter where Milo goes, he will always have enemies to face, family to help, and a world to save.

Description

Written over the span of more than five years, "The Energy" is a fast-paced, action filled, scifi-fantasy novel brimming with supernatural gods and spirits, tragedy, and unspeakable peril. Described as a "'Grand Theft Auto' meets 'The Avengers'" tale of heroism, we follow Milo Ives in his pursuit for personal growth and vengeance towards a genocidal organization that pursues Milo ravenously. Often, Milo finds he must balance the safety of his allies with the safety of those around him, as his fledgling powers possess the potential for widespread and catastrophic destruction. Luckily for Milo, the gods are on his side, as Milo goes through training with his three godly mentors - sharpening and expanding his abilities. In his quest, Milo learns the values and skills to not only keep himself alive, but to keep his humanity in times of incessant violence and killing. But no amount of training could prepare Milo for his monumental journey nor his mysterious purpose.

About the author

Matthew Rasmusson was born and raised in San Diego, California. Matthew was inspired to write at age sixteen after a family trip spurred an epic story called "The Coming of Age Trilogy". Finding inspiration from other teen writers such as Christopher Paolini, Matthew spent nearly six years crafting and reworking his story. Matthew published his first novel: "The Energy" in the beginning of 2015. When Matthew is not working on his writing, he is usually studying, pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Cell and Molecular Biology from San Diego State University. Capturing the magic of real life is one of Matthew's goals in writing, as he recently took a three-month trip to Shanghai in order to achieve a more accurate setting for his upcoming sequel - "The Chemistry". Matthew is naturally adventurous and ambitious, having traveled internationally, Matthew has had experiences from Zip-lining to DJ-ing. As an avid gamer, scholar, and writer, Matthew hopes to use his talents to not only reach worldwide acclaim, but to raise money for charitable foundations. While writing has certainly been one of Matthew's lengthy endeavors, he also has passions for teaching, music, video games, and video production. While it is unclear as to what Matthew will do with his career, his goal in life is to do something he loves around the people he loves.
