The World Through my Lenses: The Creation of 60 Photographs presents selected images created by Ruey Long Cheu, also known as Kelvin Cheu from 2012 to 2024. These works reflect the author's interests in observing and capturing diverse subjects as he traveled around the world. These works are arranged in three parts: Part 1 - West Texas and Southern New Mexico; Part 2 - The Land of the Free; and Part 3- Around the World. Each photograph is complemented by a narrative that explains its composition, the technical challenges encountered during its production, and the reasons behind its inclusion in this collection.

The World Through my Lenses: The Creation of 60 Photographs presents selected images created by Ruey Long Cheu, also known as Kelvin Cheu from 2012 to 2024. These works reflect the author's interests in observing and capturing diverse subjects as he traveled around the world. These works are arranged in three parts: Part 1 - West Texas and Southern New Mexico uses 11 pieces of works to introduce the beauty and culture of El Paso, Texas and its surrounding region to readers. Part 2 - The Land of the Free showcases 18 photographs created in Arizona, California, New York, Oregon, Washington, and Washington D.C. Part 3- Around the World assembles 31 images from 17 cities in 12 countries outside the United States. Each photograph is complemented by a narrative that explains its composition, the technical challenges encountered during its production, and the reasons behind its inclusion in this collection.

About the author
Ruey Long Cheu, also known as Kelvin Cheu, is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso. Kelvin specializes in Transportation Engineering—a sub-discipline within Civil Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, and holds both master's and bachelor's degrees from the National University of Singapore. Kelvin is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Originally from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Kelvin has studied and worked in Singapore and California before settling in El Paso, Texas, in 2006. His extensive travels have taken him to over 20 countries, inspiring him to take the photographs featured in this book. In his essay My Photographic Journey: 1980 to 2024 in the book, Kelvin shares the evolution of his photographic style and equipment. Currently, he serves as the Secretary of the Photography Enthusiasts of El Paso (PEEP), Texas.
