About the author
Ruey Long Cheu, also known as Kelvin Cheu, is a Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at The University of Texas at El Paso. Kelvin specializes in Transportation Engineering—a sub-discipline within Civil Engineering. He earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Irvine, and holds both master's and bachelor's degrees from the National University of Singapore. Kelvin is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and a Fellow of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Originally from Johor Bahru, Malaysia, Kelvin has studied and worked in Singapore and California before settling in El Paso, Texas, in 2006. His extensive travels have taken him to over 20 countries, inspiring him to take the photographs featured in this book. In his essay My Photographic Journey: 1980 to 2024 in the book, Kelvin shares the evolution of his photographic style and equipment. Currently, he serves as the Secretary of the Photography Enthusiasts of El Paso (PEEP), Texas.
