About the author

A native-born Texan, I now live in New England with my husband Mark. We have three sons: Jacob, Angelo, and Stephano (My three heartbeats) and we have two dogs and a cat. I began my career as a photographer and then expanded my interests to the area of the health care professions and became an Occupational Therapist. I currently work in a skilled nursing facility in the rehab department treating patients with my ever cherished holistic approach. I continue to take pictures outside of the everyday moments around me, being mindful of them and capturing the essence of nature that has always called to me. I am on social platforms under Ekatshots (Photography by Ekaterini - my Greek heritage name). I'm an avid animal lover and I hope to someday have my own animal rescue foundation. I have also started my own company called, The Giving Giraffe Box, (www.thegivinggiraffebox.com) which is called "The Giving'' Giraffe Box as it also continues to give as a percent of sales are donated to local animal rescue foundations.

The World Awaits You! The World Awaits You! is a beautifully written book and reminder to look around at what surrounds us and envelops us if we allow it to. I was pulled into many moment's of stillness, peace and serenity through Karen's poetry and photography, page after page, after page. Karen has an uncanny ability to capture unique and special moments that will fill the empty spaces in your heart. I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys poetic reflection and breathtaking imagery. Read more
