"The Witch and The Ogre" is a story about a loutish ogre who blunders into a situation with a very evil witch who has never been bettered by persons who seek her treasure of gold. The Ogre is extremely deformed in appearance and The Witch is extremely knowledgeable of strangers entering her forest. No one enters the woods as they are haunted, and The Witch sees all.
Description

This work is based on the avariciousness of people and what can occur if one is not thoughtful and careful in how one pursues the need to gain wealth without hard work. It is a dark tale written in rhyme so the reader is captured by the rhythm of the words. The Ogre is a stupid being who doesn't think and is faced with the witch who is entirely aware and calculating. The work is especially designed to be read to the child or if is read without a reader to create a thoughtful reaction to what can occur if impulse leads one to unthinking adventure

About the author
The author is presently retired after a long 30 year career in public education as a teacher, counselor and school administrator. Much of his career was engaged with elementary students but in addition he taught college level courses in psychology and administered several public elementary and secondary schools. He is particularly expert at teacher effectiveness strategies and understands the manner in which young children learn to read and retain learning. In retirement he occupies his time on a large ranch in Oregon maintaining and caring for the many domestic and wild animals that he shares the land with.
