Overview
Following the Civil War the Era of Reconstruction began. Many a soldier who had experienced war began to see it was easier to take what you wanted than to work for it. Lawlessness was certainly in style as the West was growing. Even the women were trying their hand at bank robberies and train robberies.
It was not unusual for Peace Officers to turn outlaw; just as some of the Outlaws changed their ways and became Lawmen.
The collection of our stories run from the Civil War to the early 1900's.

The stories in our book are from authentic Newspapers of the era. It is interesting to me to actually read real newspapers from the mid 1800's up through the early 1900's. Some of the small obstacles are the lack of spelling, typesetting, and punctuation that was sometime difficult to read. The good news here is that we have tried to correct those errors as we go, making it an easier and more enjoyable read.
There are many tragic stories from the news articles as the True West was a very bloody time. There are also stories that tell how neighbors and families stood together to protect their homes and families.
This is a collection of those stories that we all need to know about … mostly because we as a people need to know that history will repeat itself if not understood.
