About The Author


Judge Alan King is a retired Probate Judge who served in Jefferson County, Alabama from 2001-2020. Judge King is a member of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and, while a sitting judge, was a frequent lecturer on mental health issues in Alabama. In addition to other types of probate cases, Alan conducted approximately 7500 mental health hearings. Alan has been a practicing attorney or judge for 44 years, and was also a member of the National College of Probate Judges.
