It was not an easy life, but it was an honest one. Jeffrey Kohler was born in Canton, Ohio. He went to school, graduated, and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy that same year. In 2007, he received individual augmentee orders to the U.S. Army, specifically 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division—The Big Red One. After completing mobilization training, he deployed to Multi-National Security Transition Command–Iraq-J6 (Communications) for 341 days. After his deployment, he went on to get an education, find a job, and start a life. Along the way, he tried to save others from the experience he had, only to be silenced by the institutions he had fought to protect.

About The Author


Jeff Kohler graduated from high school in 2005 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy that same year. After completing basic training and A school, he was assigned to USS San Antonio LPD-17. Two years later, he received individual augmentee orders to the U.S. Army, specifically 1st Battalion, 5th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division—The Big Red One. After completing mobilization training, he deployed to Multi-National Security Transition Command–Iraq-J6 (Communications). After his deployment was concluded, Jeff separated from active duty, served time in the naval reserve, and graduated from The Ohio State University. Jeff is happily married and enjoys recreational diving among many hobbies in his spare time.
