About the author
My name is Richard, I have lived the life of an "uncommon man". Uncommon?. judge for yourself. I have been in a hurricane in the "Bermuda triangle" in the U.S navy, nearly lost the ship and was swept out to sea. saved only by my one hand getting caught in a chain. I have been on fire from a fire aboard ship, I have been condemned to die as my body was filled with staph infection from skin grafts, given my last rites. I have been as a young police officer in a running high speed chase nearly killing a young lad as I drew down on him. TMI nuke event in 1979 in Pennsylvania I had my hand on that run away reactor. I have gone through a "Divine Intervention" to this very day I still cannot come to grips with it. Over 66 years ago. I have come from a dysfunctional family Father a drunk, mother the town flavor of the month. I lived in tarpaper shacks picked dumps for clothes. Studied by oil lamps. Never had a birthday or a Christmas. 10th grade drop out. YET! when the Japanese had their nuke event, they sent twice to my home their reporters from their top newspaper asking me about their nuke problem. A drop out throw away kid in another countries newspaper/along the way I have held death in my hands credited with saving two lives. I have been a crew member of the presidential yacht "Sequoia" have steered the oldest ship in the Navy "Old Ironsides".
My, Uncommon Life of a Common Man." is dedicated to my one and only love my soulmate. Without her by my side I could not have lived this life. Hopefully this account will inspire others to succeed in their lives, If I could ,so can they. I write my own proverbs. One I like. "Hardship is the fire that tempers the steel in your backbone." I'm not a polished writer, I write from my heart and what I feel.
