Overview
In the year 2440, a bloody horse and wounded Confederate soldier inexplicably materialize in the smoke of a Civil War reenactment. When forensic evidence suggests that the soldier has traveled through time, not once but twice, the tyrannical government of United America assigns interrogator Dr. Benjamin Murray to discover the truth. A double agent for a secret organization, he already knows more than his superiors. He sets out to uncover the identity of the mysterious soldier, an indomitable warrior from the previous century and the country's last hope for freedom. Ben must protect him from the government and convince him to join forces with his organization. Running for his life in a time not his own, the soldier makes discoveries that bring him to his knees. He questions not only what he is willing to die for—but what he is willing to live for. Will he find the strength and fortitude to rise and fight again…to restore a nation that no longer exists?

He questions not only what he is willing to die for—but what he is willing to live for. Will he find the strength and fortitude to rise and fight again…to restore a nation that no longer exists? The Time Altar is a captivating science fiction series that takes a bold look at a future society and the people's relationship with their government. It details a fantastic world of scientific achievements and artificial intelligence. Looming large are weapons of the future and the next generation of warfare, along with androids, lunar bases, and colonies on Mars. The story pulls at concepts of genetic manipulation and disease while pushing the edges of psychology and systems of belief. Book 1: A Time to Fight also begins the shocking journey into the nightmare of another dystopian world—the world of America in the 1860s, during the Civil War. The Time Altar Series intertwines the past into the future and the future into the past. It's a heartbreaking and yet inspirational story of family and unbreakable love. It's also a story of right and wrong and a search for truth. It's a story of passion, hope, altruism, and ultimately—a soldier's search for meaning.
About the author

Daniel Clerc grew up on a multi-generational family farm in the agricultural corridor of Illinois. With an irrepressible love for the sciences and the healing arts, he attended Southern Illinois University where he achieved bachelor's degrees in molecular biology and psychology, and a minor in organic chemistry. He became a certified EMT and went on to complete a master's degree in biochemistry. Daniel then attended Saint Louis University School of Medicine and graduated in 1998 with his Doctorate in Medicine. With an additional interest in forensic pathology, he became a certified death investigator. After completion of a family medicine residency in St. Louis, he relocated to the Pacific Northwest to complete post-doctoral training in sleep medicine. Currently, Daniel continues to practice a combination of sleep and family medicine in the Pacific Northwest.

The tension of The Time Altar Series not only weaves its way through two centuries in the future, but it also reaches fever-pitch in the dystopia of the United States in the mid-1800s. The reader will become absorbed in the plight of Lt. Col Jake Gillean. He is a stranger cast into a world where advances in science, technology, and warfare threaten the survival of humanity. The Time Altar is a deep twist of psychology, history, and governments buckling under the pressure of disparate philosophies. It's a bold look back to discover where we've been, and a look forward to where we're going.
