About the author
Tony Ducklow grew up in North St. Paul, Minnesota and graduated from North High School. He had no clear goals and a few years later when introduced to his fiancée’s grandmother (whose husband was a college president) she replied dryly, “We’ve never had a janitor in the family before.”
Years later after becoming a school teacher, he become aware of the lack of good local children’s programming on television and created the cable program Captain McCool and Friends. It went on to win “Best Series Program," "Best Community Program," and the "Overall Excellence in Production" awards.
He later wrote a non-fiction short story called, The Summer of Egg which was published in the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Author Skip Press encouraged him to turn that short story into a fictional children’s novel. He took that advice and wrote The Summer of the Crows.
