Description

An ancient oak tree stands watch for thousands of years, listening to secrets buried deep within the earth by countless generations. Through its roots, forgotten voices emerge. Stories of courage, loss, redemption, sacrifice, hope, and love. Across changing civilizations and cultures, twelve stories reveal a timeless truth: human hearts have always wrestled with universal fears, hopes, dreams, & desires. From a young woman banished by her Paleolithic clan, to a Moorish slave dreaming of freedom, a high-born lady in New Spain with a forbidden love, a young soldier coming home from Hell, and more, "The Story Tree" spans millennia, rich with joy and despair, evil choices and good intentions.

About The Author

Linda Ross waded into the employment pool to gather an eclectic array of career hats: symphony musician, automobile salesperson, clerical, public speaking consultant, media account representative, media planner, copy writer, regional theatre and opera, human resources, and a deep dive into corporate land's learning & development. Along the way, she collected wide-eyed observations and juicy human tidbits for future stories. Her writer's soul simmered for years as she volunteered to transform lackluster department newsletters, independently enlivened boring managerial curriculum, and created endless limericks in the margins of spreadsheets during zombie-inducing meetings. Upon retirement from corporate life, she set loose her writer's true spirit. Two novels and a collection of short stories later, her love for historical research and storytelling will soon have her crafting her next stories. Outside the written word and printed pages, her passion for storytelling finds her volunteering as an oral storyteller in schools and performing with the Legendary Ladies—an educational troupe bringing women of the West to life with short monologues in full costume. Research! Audience connection! Authentic costumes! A history geek's dream.
