Overview
This book describes the life of the sharecropper and his family on their various tobacco farms.
Description
The youngest son of the sharecropper writes this memoir describing his early life on the tobacco farm in rural Virginia. His father followed his own father, farming in the old fashioned way, using horses instead of tractors. The early part of this story takes place in the era of the Great Depression. It's the story of heartache, hard work, and finally accomplishment by the sharecropper.
About the author
The author was born in Amelia County, Virginia, and currently resides in Goochland County with his wife of 43 years, Patsy. Retired from life insurance sales and management, Al fulfilled his dream of purchasing land in the rural community and building his own home in the woods. When he is not writing, he enjoys working on projects in his wood working shop, including furniture for family members and friends. As the last surviving son of the sharecropper, it is important to him to keep his parents "alive" for the children grandchildren.
