Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become the most transformative technology since the Internet.
This book intends to help "average" persons understand this revolutionary new technology and the indicators to watch for. It could enable them to avoid potential economic disasters or reap the benefits it brings to their lives and their families.
Beginning in 1993, I was responsible for developing the strategy and plan to promote the global use of the Internet, the most revolutionary technology over the last three decades. Like the Internet, AI will change our global society and create a new economic paradigm. Its development is progressing rapidly.
In this book. I delineate both the positive and negative effects on our society.
For over 30 years, I have provided motivation and insight to help people capitalize on the Internet's global communications phenomenon. With my extensive experience in launching revolutionary technologies and addressing their challenges, I am uniquely qualified to write this book.
As you will read, I have tracked the Internet's development and growth over the last three decades and compared it with the state and prospects of AI.
The Internet era brought with it a Boom-Bust financial cycle, during which some investors lost hundreds of millions of dollars by misreading the market. There are valuable lessons from that era.
During that time, I was a Senior Consultant at Safeguard Scientific of Wayne, Pennsylvania, a significant dealmaker. This experience gave me an inside look at the factors that contributed to the Internet financial bubble in the 2000s.
I witnessed the Internet's growth and evolution into one of the most significant technologies of our time. Its achievements and accomplishments far surpassed my initial expectations. Initially, I thought it would be limited to helping society improve our lives by making every task much easier—from shopping online to finding services, a mate, or a nearby doctor or hospital.
The Internet's most significant accomplishments are its database of billions of user documents and the worldwide linking of computers. It's the fuel that allowed the AI to flourish today.
Advancements generated by the Internet have propelled AI's growth today and far into the future. AI has the potential to make an even greater contribution to our society than the Internet has.
But at a Cost?
AI has the potential to change our global society forever, much as the Internet did. The breadth of its development will change the labor market, with millions of people being replaced by AI technology and its agents. It will require retraining millions of people.
AI technology is advancing rapidly. In the near term, I am concerned about my grandchildren, the children of other families, and their future in a world dominated by AI. I discuss the lack of rules and safeguards that could protect the public and our children.
AI is a global movement involving people and countries around the world. The potential of AI should concern us all.
It has the potential to influence every aspect of your life. The economic impact will change the lives of every person on the planet.
AI technology can exacerbate the financial gap between the haves and the have-nots in our country and globally.
During the early Internet era, we witnessed digital divide zones in the United States. Major communication entities were reluctant to provide connectivity in urban and rural communities due to the costs, thereby limiting access, especially in many minority communities. This connectivity problem continues across the country today.
Will some communities in the U.S. be left out again because of future AI costs?
