About The Author


Maddie Mozenter lives in the Los Angeles area with her family. When Maddie was young, there weren't many resources available for children with Selective Mutism or for their parents and teachers. She hopeds this book will serve as a helpful resource so kids with Selective Mutism can feel less alone. Maddie struggled with Selective Mutism, which made everyday life tougher than it needed to be. This is Lucy's story, but it is Maddie's story too. Maddie enjoys art, writing, piano, traveling, music, spending time with her friends and family, being outdoors, staying active, and being with her two dogs, Archie and Olive. Maddie hopes this book encourages empathy, patience, acceptance, understanding, and friendships everywhere it is read, reminding children with Selective Mutism and anxiety that they are not alone.
