About The Author

Sheldon Shalley, MA, MSW, is a psychotherapist, licensed clinical social worker, educator, artist, and shamanic practitioner. For more than thirty-five years, he has helped people break free from destructive, unhealthy patterns and move toward psychological, spiritual well-being. Sheldon earned his master's degree in social work from Indiana University. His interest in non-traditional therapies and spirituality led him to studying dreams, various spiritual traditions, philosophy, psychology, and eventually, shamanism and energy medicine. In 2009, Sheldon began his formal study of Shamanism and energy medicine with the Healing the Light Body School for the Four Winds Society, founded by anthropology and Shaman Alberto Villoldo. He completed his certification in luminous healing in 2013. Sheldon has led dream groups and shaman circles and teaches classes on shamanism and energy healing. His Substack, "The Psychotherapist and the Shaman", presents articles on the integration of psychotherapy, shamanism, and energy medicine as pathways for healing. Sheldon's personal journey, work as a psychotherapist, and shamanic practitioner have given him direct experience with healing the emotional, psychological, and spiritual wounds of human suffering. Currently, Sheldon lives in Noblesville, Indiana, with his wife of over fifty-eight years, Betty. Together they have two children and two grandchildren. Sheldon is in private practice in Indianapolis, Indiana, and is available for conferences, consultations, psychotherapy, and shamanic healing.
