About the author
Marlene Newman is a mother of four and grandmother of two. Throughout her life, Newman has shared her passion for reading and writing with her family, students and fellow teachers as an elementary school teacher in New Rochelle, New York. After retirement, Newman published her first children’s book, Myron’s Magic Cow (Barefoot Books, 2005). She has read her book to the delight of children here in the US, as well as in London. The Old Lion is inspired by her imagination and childhood memories of growing up during the Great Depression and World War II.
