Description

Through an ingenious ruse, Navlon gifts the Sceptre and Crown Emblems to two chieftains of the woodland tribe, Gossmer and Fal Gen. These emblems soon become submissive to the willpower of their new bearers. Armed with such mighty weapons, they proceed towards the inner recesses of the misty realm, hoping to uncover the whereabouts of the Seeker folk. Queen Orlinda plans her own stratagems in weaning away Arianne’s affections for the Meldovian monarch. Without his Sceptre, Lord Irah seems at the mercy of the Orvidean queen. Yuleyae and Daasarpias, pursued by the powerful Sorcerer of ZoVog realm, return to their own world. Arriving at the Misty realm, they are pitted against the wielder of the Black Bangle and they nearly become his latest victims. In the realm of Solma, the efforts of Captain Korgul, leader of the reptilian rebellion, look doomed from the start. The rebels are unexpectedly ambushed and the vast might of Lord Kragbot, ruler of the realm, is unleashed upon the smaller rebel forces. In the ancient and long-forgotten land of Lavadea, a violent eruption brings back to life the dreaded Droll Lord and his equally fearsome droll warriors. Armed with his indestructible Fire-axe, he seeks revenge upon the kingdom of Lamiras. Having defeated a previous wielder of the Staff emblem in times past, he now gathers his army for the long-awaited journey across the seas towards Lamiras. Some of the emblem bearers are despatched to that land of volcanoes to contain the fresh challenge of the Droll Lord. And yet, deep down they know that it is only a matter of time before the Fire-axe of their mighty adversary despatches them into the Great Void of spirit beings. Death and destruction fall upon the protagonists of this fatal encounter. In the battle between the reptilian forces of Lord Kragbot and Captain Korgul, the wielder of the Black Bangle throws his mystical skills behind the massive forces of the ruling clan. The balance of power definitely tilts towards the more ferocious elements of the realm. Leading the Solmian woman warriors in the fight against Lord Kragbot, Lady Yuleyae, wielder of the Pendant emblem, mysteriously vanishes into the thin air. It is given to Captain Yashti to assume command and ride swiftly towards Fort Sol Lemo, to the aid of their reptilian comrades and the Shield emblem bearer. The Emblem bearers become separated from one another. In their battles against the different unruly elements, their mystical skills are taxed to their utmost capabilities. Anything more and their lives would definitely be forfeit. Never have they battled such mighty adversaries. The outcomes do not augur well for the good peoples of the world.

About the author

Venkataraman Gopalakrishnan, an ex-banker, currently grooms primary school students for the Olympiad Mathematics Examinations in Singapore. The eighth and youngest child of his parents, Gopal credits his late father, Subramania Venkataram Aiyer, for his entry into the enthralling realm of books. He has come a long way – from reading a plethora of genres, like western novels, adventure, crime, science-fiction and fantasy – to feeling that he could also contribute towards the wide realm of authoring. The Mythical Emblems of Gragodon comes in a series of 6 volumes. It is an epic novel of the Aventure-Fantasy genre - something like ‘The Lord of the Rings’ and ‘Harry Potter’ series of books. Nine entertaining years have already passed, in the conceptualization and completion of this set of 6 volumes. The first two volumes in this series have already come out as a single book of forty chapters, launched during the Singapore Writers’ Festival of 2011 and financed through a substantial monetary grant from the National Arts Council of Singapore (NAC). An erstwhile reader himself, Gopal nowadays puts in much time, writing his unique genre of books. He lists J.R.R. Tolkien as one of his favourite authors. The inspiration for this adventure story came while he was doing a series of character sketches, on a coach trip from Kuala Lumpur to Singapore. His interest eventually took flight and he now writes with fervent zeal. He hopes that more Asian writers would come forth in taking the Adventure-Fantasy genre to further heights of proficiency and acclaim. The author currently resides in Singapore with his wife and three children.
