About The Author

Marine Ashnalikyan is a first-generation Armenian-American poet with a love for the ocean, dance, and creating with words. Her books Walking Distance and Only Once were both published at The Cowell Press. She also published a short collection of love poetry in her e-book titled, You. Marine's poems have been published in The Red Wheelbarrow and Matchbox Magazine, and she was chosen to read her poetry at the 15th Annual Literature Colloquium at the University of California, Santa Cruz. Beautifully Done! This book definitely helps you connect spiritually to the world and opens up your emotions to feel what needs to be felt. All of us have experienced the darkness described in these passages, however we can all understand the positivity and beauty that can emerge from it and this book does just that. Beautiful poetry, a must read! Marine truly has a unique way with words. Not only is she incredibly insightful and inspirational but she also has a creative way of incorporating life lessons into her poetry. She has a beautiful way of turning dark experiences into enlightening ones and focusing on the silver lining. Marine was extremely brave and vulnerable by letting strangers know her deep emotions, but I'm glad she shared it because it definitely helped me grow as a person. Would highly recommend this book, and it also makes a great gift! Read more

Amazing book! This book really took me on a journey of so many emotions and moments. I absolutely loved every minute of reading Marine’s poetry and find myself going back to it every time I want some time to myself to relax. Not only does it inspire me every time, it makes me feel comfortable to express my own self and feelings. It’s crazy how the poetry in this book can bring out parts of your mind you never knew existed. Each chapter was beautiful in its own way, but I gotta say my favorite chapter was, “The Heart.” This book won’t be leaving my nightstand for a while. Highly recommend!! Read more
