Description
The earliest recorded ancestor of the McKenzies of Early Maryland was John MacKinzie (actual spelling in his will dated 1758) (b. 1687), who was one of three McKenzies who populated the shores of the newly formed Maryland colony in the 1600's. Thousands of McKenzies in the United States and Canada trace their lineage to him. This book discusses in detail the first three generations of the McKenzies of Early Maryland, the location of the original McKenzie property in Howard County, Maryland, and their migration from that area and ultimately throughout the United States and Canada. Included in the book is a detailed discussion of whether John MacKinzie was related to the other two individuals who resided in Maryland at the same time and who had a similar last name. He was not. Additional chapters outline the military service of the McKenzies throughout every war in our country's history, as well as the current status of DNA analysis of the origins of the family. The book should be read in conjunction with the author's website http://mckenziesofearlymaryland.com, which as of the date of publication of this book contains over 59,000 names and countless thousands of deeds, photos, maps, death certificates and obituaries.
