About the author
Born on a small Texas island on the Gulf of Mexico in the the early fifties and reared by the strong arm of my father.....I had to endure many obstacles. Being extremely poor and often fishing and hunting to put food on the table, I was ridiculed by my peers for the tattered and worn clothing I wore. Racism ran wild and going to a predominantly white school didn't help. I was called the "N" word so much that I thought it was my middle name and got into fights almost everyday. It seemed to be a one-way street between the whites at school and the blacks from my hood. I got jumped on by the whites for coming to their school and I got jumped on by the blacks for going to a white school. Even my father would beat me mercifully for almost any little thing I did wrong and I always thought that he was taking revenge on me for the death of my mom at my birth. I was a kid without love from anybody, but it suddenly came......from the most unlikely person and the most unlikely.....animals? Although, I persevere through these and much more turmoils, I never held a grudge, had remorse or retaliated in any way. I went on to become a firefighter, Emergency Med. Tech., and even though I only spent five years on the force, I became an over-the-road truck driver and a "Road Warrior" and always stop to render aid in any emergency. My love for my fellow man has promped me to write this book in an effort to make money to feed, house, clothe, and help the poor and needy. I have been given a special gift, by God, that has been essential to my survival and I should have taken the "High Road to Heaven" a long, long time ago.
