About the author
Lisa Brooks is a personal chef, a culinary business coach, a designer of women's chef apparel, and a social media personality. She is most recently the headlining chef of the Joy of the Feast Culinary Tour – a national underground pop-up dinner party tour featuring all women chefs. Lisa shares her passion for Southern and Low-Country cuisine and the spirit of hospitality with her audiences across many platforms. As a frequent guest chef on local and national TV programs, including her 2017 appearance on Food Network's Guy's Grocery Games, she brings a feeling of joy to every dish she creates with her vibrant personality and genuine passion for food and people. The youngest of seven girls, Lisa has always associated love with food, family, friends, and feasting. She learned to cook at 5 years old from her family matriarchs – her mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. After leaving a corporate career at the age of 40, Lisa earned her degree in Culinary Arts and launched Heart & Soul Personal Chef Service, which provides elite private dining experiences for clients and their guests. As a private event chef, she cooks for professional athletes, A-list actors, and top business executives. She leads her all-female chef team in Charlotte, NC. She now coaches and mentors women chefs on starting, operating, and scaling their own private and personal chef businesses. Lisa and her son, AuBrey, who she deems her greatest life accomplishment, regularly travel together to experience great food and various cultures around the globe.
