The Hustle: Celebrating Detroit's Unsung Entrepreneurs chronicles the Detroit Historical Society program of the same name. Between 2022 and 2024 The Hustle celebrated inspiring Black Detroiters who rose to success in some unexpected industries, uncovering and documenting the stories of the men and women whose work has made everyday life in Detroit special while helping to create a deep sense of hometown pride. This catalog memorializes the people, exhibitions, programs, and events that combined to create a successful two-year project.

Rebecca Salminen Witt is Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at the Detroit Historical Society. She compiled and edited the contents of The Hustle: Celebrating Detroit's Unsung Entrepreneurs from the work of the broad team who wrote, designed and promoted The Hustle from 2022 through 2024.
