The Highs and Lows of Love celebrates many aspects of love: a love for a child/family member/friend. It is sometimes sad, hurtful, understanding, loving, unrealistic but it celebrates life as we know it. The book as a whole is that celebration that makes us who we are.
About the author
Verlinda J. Allen started her love for writing in the early 90's. Her writings consisted poetry published in The National Library of Poetry Contests; where several poems received Editor's Choice. The Highs and Lows of Love, her first book in printed; presently being republished, holds a few of the poems from these contests. Ms. Allen enjoys singing, dancing, writing, sewing and designing. She is presently finishing her 1st romance novel and children's picture/poetry book. She lives in Florida with her family and 8 cats (Zohran, Jinxxs, Sheba, 4 kittens who are a family-Mittens, Mikasa, Misty and Mocha; the last 2 having health issues and Mia (a catch and release) and 2 rabbits: Cinnamon and Diamond. She also has 4 registered businesses, all home-based for the moment, in custom-made clothing (Anaya Heart Infinity), event planning (Phoenix Event Planning), catering & delivery (Zacharrias's American-Caribbean-Cuisine) and the newest (Books Published). Ms. Allen, who has Sickle Cell Disease (SCD) also works as a Patient Advocate/Warrior at the Foundation for Sickle Cell Disease Research, since their beginnings in 2014. Along, with her second book...Special Childhood Treasures, a part of her book's sale proceeds will go to the continued fight against Sickle Cell Disease.
