Overview
At once a hilarious memoir and a fun, practical cookbook, The Heedless Norseman is like having two ebooks for the price of one! Author Askildt takes readers on a riotous journey, from his misbegotten childhood in Norway, to life as a bumbling, wanna-be farmer in remote rural Saskatchewan. The heedless Norseman is full of good cheer and good recipes -- an excellent combination!
Description
After a riotous Norwegian childhood, Kaare Askildt, city slicker extraordinaire, moves to Canada, eventually ending up in rural Saskatchewan, determined to make his mark as a farmer. He makes his mark, all right, in ways that keep his long-suffering wife and bemused neighbours shaking their heads, and readers laughing until they cry. The author of a popular column in the Preeceville Progress, Canora Courier, Kamsack Times & Yorkton News, Askildt has a charming way of poking fun at himself. This is old-time story telling at its best! BONUS! Here's a ebook you'll want to tote into the kitchen -- it's full of delicious, easy-to-prepare recipes, many of them taken straight from the kitchens of Norway where author Askildt grew up. Skaal!
About the author
Kaare Askildt was born and raised in Norway. He moved to Canada as a (much!) younger man, living in Vancouver and Edmonton before finally settling in Preeceville, Saskatchewan, with his wife, Marion. He is currently working on his second book, in collaboration with his identical twin brother, Kjell.
