With the benefit of a history grant, an Advanced Placement History class journeys to Italy in hopes of learning more about history, most especially the world war era. The Glory of the Olive gives more than a glimpse of the life and times of Eugenio Pacelli, Pope Pius XII, and more than the answers to whether Pius was Hitler's Pope. This screen play is critical in understanding and interpreting this period.
This screen play offers more than a glimpse into the life and times of Eugenio Pacelli, Pope Pius XII, and more than the answer to whether he was Hitler's Pope. Historians and the world community await the release of Vatican war documents in 2014. Yet within this script lies a critical element to understanding and interpreting the war years, to finding the missing pieces, to assessing the Yalta/Potsdam failure and its Cold War legacy. In the GLORY OF THE OLIVE history has its day in court. How? Portland, Oregon's Wilson High School AP (Advanced Placement) students journey to Italy. They discover the facts--the focus--the chronology--the pieces that unveil mysteries long hidden. And it's a stunner.
