Overview

From the creators of the indie smash success, The Boy Who Wanted to Rock, The Girl Who Wanted to Rock follows up its predecessor with more musical mojo and a rock 'n' roll adventure that's geared toward aspiring young musicians. The star of the book is a talented little girl with a house full of instruments…but no one to play with. This all changes when she's visited by two unexpected guests…who seem to be a long way from home. Together, they make some joyful noise, and along the way discover the power of music to build friendships. Intended for children ages three to nine, The Girl Who Wanted to Rock illustrates essential musical concepts, like melody, harmony, rhythm and groove, while showcasing the magic of playing music with friends. An upbeat tale told in rhyme, the story ends with a rock 'n' roll jam that's out of this world! After the success of The Boy Who Wanted to Rock, which was featured in the Boston Globe and on Boston Public Radio, music fans have been anxiously awaiting a sequel. Written by music industry veteran David Weiser, and illustrated by longtime collaborator Derek Lavoie, this story promises to inspire rockers of all ages, regardless of musical background.
