Richard Schenkman grew up in New York loving movies and books, and has been writing stories for as long as he can remember. At age ten he decided that he should be a filmmaker, but none of his friends would show up to act, so he starting creating animated shorts using clay and G.I. Joe dolls. At fourteen he cofounded an international James Bond fan club – editing and publishing a fanzine which at its height was distributed in over thirty countries. He made short films in high school and college, while continuing to produce the Bond magazine. He contributed articles and photographs to his school newspapers and yearbooks, as well as other magazines. Despite having been an usher in a movie theatre, he feels his first actual showbiz job was at MTV, where he really learned about writing, directing, and producing. He then spent several years making commercials, TV shows and short films, until he got together with two friends and made a motion picture called “The Pompatus of Love” which won several awards and was released theatrically. In the years since, he’s made five more movies including “Went to Coney Island on a Mission From God… Be Back by Five”, “A Diva’s Christmas Carol”, and “The Man From Earth”. He lives in Los Angeles with his daughter, his cat, and two fish. This is his first book.
