The Ghosts of Ildereen

Chicagoan Heather Gregg goes to farm-sit in the Ozarks near the ruins of Ildereen, a once grand hotel and spa. Brutal murders took place there in 1929, and locals claim the place is haunted. But Heather doesn't believe in ghosts--not yet.

There in the fall of 1929, Mary hacked to death her employers and escaped into the woods with their infant son. Mary died that winter of exposure, but the baby was never found. What turned a happy, beautiful young woman into a murderess? Heather’s investigation uncovers surprising facts, but the séances she holds empowers Mary’s spirit to possess the living and kill again. Now Heather must discover how to lay Mary to rest--if she can.

Phillis Fox is a retired college professor. She lives on 20 acres of pasture and forests in the Missouri Ozarks with her husband, their pets, Nature’s wildlife, and perhaps a ghost or two.
