About the author


I am Nicole Gilmore, the visionary behind The Five Steps To A Journey Of Healing. I was born in Houston, Texas, and I am the mother of three wonderful children. Part of who I am is credited to an extraordinary woman (my mother) whose life was taken from me at 15 years old, while my other half shares the same story with my “super hero” (my father) who was also taken from me just a few years later. However, here I am, and totally up front and present for the challenge of bringing you a piece of me throughout every avenue and path of my journey.

 My grandmother is who contributed to who I am as a woman. She added the ingredients of strength, stability, perseverance and unconditional love. Through her illustrations of that unconditional love, she taught me that no matter what the challenge is, especially as it relates to family, you stick together and take care of one another. This was a lesson taught and learned through my biggest challenge ever, the raising of my nephew. He became a part of my immediate family due to the loss of my sister who was tragically taken from us while my nephew was only two years old. Her loss came three months before the loss of my grandmother. This was only one of the most devastating times in my life.

Throughout my journey of grief and loss, I was stretched even wider through my experience of domestic violence, divorce, and the raising of my three children as a single mother. This qualifies me to tell my story and contribute to the well-being of others through my own personal journey of healing and overcoming the events of the past. Although I’ve always been a private person, now I understand that I cannot complete my journey without giving you a glimpse of my experiences to make your journey a little less traveled.
